How To Find Unread E-mails in your Gmail Inbox

I check my Gmail inbox very frequently in a day. As of now I have used up only 10% of the available space. Receiving good mails from friends has become a rarity, so subscriptions to blogs, internships, deals and Facebook updates fill up my inbox. But it has happened with me that I have left a mail unread to read it later and I recall that after months. The inbox status shows there is 1 mail unread but where is it located , on which page? I just go through mails ,time and again to find that one mail. Its hectic and time consuming.
If you have gone through this and would like remedy to this. Though this is not something new but I have a short solution for you :

1. Type "is:unread" (without quotes) in the search field in your Gmail inbox and click search email

Woah! You have found all your unread mails.

If you want to search for mails from a specific user

Type "is:unread from : email id " (without quotes)

Eg:- If I want to read unread mails from myself I would have to type :"is:unread from : me"

Also if you prefer to type less or are going to use this feature frequently you can use  "l:^u"  instead of "is:unread".
